The untouched, unspoiled Pineapple Island exudes an old-school Hawaii charm that’s quite unlike anything else...
On Lanai, Hawaii’s smallest inhabited island, there are no traffic lights and there are hardly any stop signs. The untouched, unspoiled Pineapple Island exudes an old-school Hawaii charm that’s quite unlike anything else. But at the southern coast of the island—the best coast—there’s a gem that goes by the name of the Four Seasons Resort Lanai. Set atop a lava cliff overlooking Hulopo'e Bay, the secluded property is tucked away in lush, botanical gardens with cascading waterfalls and serene koi ponds.
Upon entering the recently renovated property, the open bi-level lobby greets you with sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, giving you a peek of the best that's yet to come. Opulent yet warm accommodations span across nine connected buildings, lending a more intimate feel with lots of little nooks and great spaces.
It’s what’s behind the closed doors—be it a guest room or a suite—that seriously took us by surprise. With that we must ask you this: have you ever been to a place where the hardest decision was to leave your room? We haven’t either, but the Four Seasons Resort Lanai did just that. (Never say we didn’t warn you!) Modern in décor and contemporary in design – the rooms are simply stunning and have raised a new standard in our book. Inspired by Hawaii’s diverse and stories Polynesian influences, the décor showcases beautiful furnishings and artwork with gorgeous textures throughout. The rooms feature very high-tech contemporary amenities such as intuitive lighting, temperature, and privacy controls (all which are extremely easy to use without confusion – yes, even for those not-so tech-savvy guests!). With a Toto washlet, you’ll never have to lift the top or even remember to flush. Now this gives new meaning to the word “vacation”. Other highlights include iPad Airs for any request, exclusive Aina bath amenities made with kudu nut oil from a local farm, and a fully customizable private refreshment center.
The property's facilities are no less amazing. The fitness center – one of the most spectacular, spacious hotel gyms to date – features floor-to-ceiling windows with views to please. It's equipped with more than you'll ever need, or you can choose to take one of the offered studio classes. If your suitcase got lost, lucky you, as everything you could ever need (more-so want) can be found at one of the three one-of-a-kind luxury boutiques & stores.
If you prefer to lounge poolside by day, you're in luck. Nevermind the stunning views (that's a given), the property features two pools – one of which is an adults-only retreat with private sanctuaries and a lagoon-style experience. Arguably the best part about the pools is the lounges are placed as such so that you almost never be on top of the person next to you. And, of course, no waking up at the crack of dawn to get a spot, as there are more than enough to go 'round. If Evian spritzes, chilled towels, frosty popsicles, sunglass cleaning, a selection of magazines, complimentary sunscreen, and flavored ice water by the pool are not your thing (said no one ever!), grab a lounge chair down at the private beach where activities are endless. Just at the foot of Four Seasons Resort Lanai, Hulopo'e Bay Beach & Marine Preserve is stretch of white sand, shady palms, and gentle waves that are perfect for a splash. Sit back and soak up the sun while you see a spinner dolphin close to the shoreline or discover down under by snorkel (equipment complimentary!), scuba diving, and even SNUBA.
On land, activities are also plenty: so pick your flavor. Maybe it's playing golf at premier 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Manele Golf Course, tennis at one of the six courts, off-roading or going on a 4x4 Jeep excursion, horseback riding, shooting arrows or guns at the archery or shooting range, hiking, and more. There's even things to do in the air: perhaps you want to take a flight lesson or a helicopter flight above Lanai? You can do those, too!
On the dining front, pick your poison: for new-style Japanese there's NOBU LANAI, for American steak & Hawaiian seafood there's ONE FORTY, for a more casual, fresh organic cuisine there's Malibu Farm, for lunch with panoramic views & influenced cuisine there's VIEWS at Manele Golf, and for bar food & seafood options, there's The Sports Bar & Grill (perfect place to watch a sports game, play pool & other table games!). Have a custom cocktail as you watch the sunset over Hulopo'e Bay at Malibu Farm Bar, and cap the night off with a drink at the Lobby Bar.
At the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, the world is truly your oyster. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a place to keep the kiddies busy, if you're making your way to Hawaii, make sure the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i is on that list.
