The curated 'diamond safari' is the first of its kind in South Africa and is absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The tailor-made day trip begins with an early morning private charter flight (that's scenic, of course) from Cape Town to Port Nolloth on the west coast. Before landing, there's time to drink a toast to the adventure ahead, plus plenty of photo-ops that will surely go down in the books. Home base for the day is a luxe, contemporary villa right on the coast and directly in front of Benguela's private offshore concession. By mid-morning, the adventure gets under way with the option of joining the Benguela dive masters under the water (but don't worry, it's only an entry-level dive in shallow water!). For those who choose to opt out of diving, it's just as exciting to be on the boat waiting for the precious seabed gravel to be brought up to surface where it will be separated and sorted for you to go through after a gourmet lunch. It's then that you'll also have a behind-the-scene look of how diamonds are cut, polished and set with the richest pickings from the dive. Once back in Cape Town, you'll indulge in the hotel's signature Dom Perignon Experience.
